The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, also known as Phi Gam or Fiji, was founded May 1, 1848 at Jefferson College. Since its founding, the Fraternity has initiated over 208,000 brothers and expanded to over 140 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
The Chi Iota Chapter was originally chartered at the University of Illinois on August 6, 1897, as Phi Gamma Delta’s 73rd Chapter. After a successful 100-year tenure, the Chapter was forced to close in 1998. The Fraternity welcomed back the Chi Iota chapter to campus on April 28, 2007. Our white star has been shining brightly at Illinois ever since, and Chi Iota now sits as one of the largest of Phi Gamma Delta's 133 active chapters, with 141 undergraduate brothers.
